‘Culling of dairy cattle in Northern Ireland will not happen’

The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) has rejected claims that a no-deal Brexit would force a cull of dairy cattle in Northern Ireland.

The association spoke out after unnamed industry figures said 45,000 dairy cattle could be at risk of a cull if higher tariffs are applied to British milk by the EU following a no-deal.

This could potentially happen if the amount of milk being produced far exceeds the amount that can be processed.
