Vet schools are focusing on widening participation

Bristol vet school is the best in the UK for widening participation in recruitment and admissions, a new analysis suggests.

The Veterinary Schools Council (VSC) has published a table of the different admissions schemes that vet schools offer students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The table, which is published in the council’s most recent summary of universities’ admissions processes, shows that Bristol has eight different initiatives aimed at widening participation during recruitment and admissions – compared to seven at Cambridge and the RVC (joint second in the table), six at Glasgow and Liverpool (joint third), four at Edinburgh and three at Nottingham.

This was the first year that the annual analysis included detailed information on widening participation.

Specific examples the VSC highlights include:
