I write this letter in response to your editorial last year ‘Looking for the positive’ (VR, 18/25 August 2018, vol 183, p 203), which I came across on Twitter recently.

I loved the editorial and want to share my ‘experiences of positive practice’ with you. I have been working as a government veterinary officer in India since 2012. I work in a tribal and, possibly, the most underdeveloped area of India, where most of my patients are farm animals – cows, bullocks, buffaloes, goats, pigs and poultry. Unfortunately, we have no access to quality diagnostics and therapeutics and this does leave us a bit frustrated because the livestock farmers pin their hopes on us …
