Extinction Rebellion (XR) and Greta Thunberg are creating a stir and we would have thought that the veterinary profession would be particularly interested in the recent XR, and related campaigns, which highlight the terrifying figures regarding the effects of environmental change on animals.

It is clear that individual veterinarians do feel a level of responsibility to the cause; however, there is a deafening silence from the RCVS and almost complete silence from the BVA. The BVA has urged all political parties to adopt 10 policies in the run-up to the general election.1 Those policies are all very well; however, they do not reflect any of the XR concerns.
