The points below highlight changes in marketing authorisations (MAs) that may have a significant impact on veterinary surgeons’ prescribing decisions.

New marketing authorisations

New marketing authorisations relevant to veterinary surgeons in the UK that were issued or published in October and November 2018 are listed in Table 1.

Of those products listed, the VMD draws attention to:

• Parofor 175 mg/ml solution for injection for pigs containing paromomycin. The active substance is already authorised in pigs but the solution for injection is a new pharmaceutical form. The indication is: ‘Paromomycin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by pathogens which are susceptible to paromomycin, provided effective concentrations are achieved at the site of infection.’

• Tylovectin 200 solution for injection for cattle, goats and pigs is the first product containing the active substance tylosin that is authorised for use in goats. The product is indicated in goats for treatment of respiratory infections and metritis caused by Gram-positive microorganisms sensitive to tylosin, …
