Defra officer resigns amid Brexit delay

Defra minister George Eustice has resigned.

In his resignation letter to prime minister Theresa May, Eustice said that it was with ‘tremendous sadness’ that he was resigning, deeming the government’s decision to allow the postponement of Brexit as his reason.

He said that since parliament was now in direct control of events, he wanted to ‘be free to participate in the critical debate that will take place in the weeks ahead.’
