These were the words delivered to me by Eileen, our practice manager, one Monday morning.

Now, I don’t know how familiar you are with the Mouse Grimace Scale, but it’s safe to say that even the most inexperienced rodent pain assessor would have taken one glance at my troubled expression and realised I was in need of analgesia.

Like most of us, I guess, I’m no fan of appraisals.
