Assessing farm assurance schemes in the UK

Consumers can now more easily make informed choices on the food they buy with a new infographic, published today.

Produced by the BVA, the infographic illustrates the animal welfare credentials of seven UK farm assurance schemes to help people understand the differences between the labels on food packaging.

It sets out BVA’s priorities for farm animal welfare, and indicates whether or not the schemes address these in their standards.

The grid does not rank the schemes, but it provides key information about each one so consumers can make up their own minds. It can be found on the facing page to be cut out and shared.
