The syndromes of respiratory and gastrointestinal disease represent significant health and welfare burdens to cats, both owned and in shelters. It is estimated that 1.3 per cent of feline veterinary consultations in the UK are for respiratory disease1 and 2.2 per cent for gastrointestinal disease.2
