I wish to respond to the letters by McGill and others (VR, 27 October 2018, vol 183, pp 510-511; 10 November 2018, vol 183, p 574).

The first letter states ‘… the badger cull has produced no measurable reduction in the percentage of TB-infected herds in the cull zones’, and the second that ‘… no data was published from matched control areas to mitigate for confounding factors’. Both statements require explanation.
