Baby boomers… Generation X… Millennials… Generation Z. Roughly every 20 years, a ‘new generation’ arises, each with its own opinions, attitudes and challenges.
It is nearly 20 years since tuition fees for university education were introduced in England and Wales. From the original £1000 fee for the academic year of 1998/99, the charge has risen to the current maximum of £9250 for students who started their course in autumn 2017.
Alongside this, living costs have increased, as have the levels of student debt.
