French bulldogs now the UK’s top breed

The French bulldog has overtaken the Labrador retriever as the Kennel Club’s (KC’s) most popular breed for the first time since records began.

In the first quarter of 2018, there were 8403 French bulldog puppy registrations made to the KC, compared to 7409 for the Labrador.

If the trend continues, the KC forecasts that the breed will be the most popular dog breed in the UK by the end of the year.

Since 1990, the Labrador has been the most popular dog breed in the UK.
