Recognition for ‘outstanding’ practices

THIRTY-ONE practices that achieved ‘outstanding’ awards in the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme were recognised at a reception held during this year's BSAVA congress in Birmingham.

Giving some ‘top tips’ for achieving an award, Pam Mosedale, the RCVS's chief assessor for the PSS, advised practices to pick an area that they excelled in or an area that they wanted to prioritise. ‘Don't try to do too many awards at once,’ she said, adding that it was vital to ‘prepare, prepare, prepare’ for the day the assessor arrived to evaluate the practice.

Also, she said, ‘When you've done it all, celebrate your success, because you'll deserve it.’

The benefits of undertaking an award were highlighted by two practices receiving their outstanding awards at the reception.
