A FUNDRAISING campaign by the Soil Association to ‘save our antibiotics’ has been blasted ‘divisive’ and ‘unhelpful’.
The farming charity and organic certification body launched its campaign on March 6, with an appeal for donations ‘to save our antibiotics’ for use only when ‘absolutely necessary’ and to target farmers to improve animal husbandry and welfare.
But the Responsible Use of Medicines in Agriculture Alliance (RUMA) issued a statement last week criticising the campaign and warning that it could set back the significant progress being made on reducing use of antibiotics across UK farming industry.
