THE deadline by which veterinary practices in Devon and Cornwall that are thinking about becoming subcontractors for the delivery of TB testing services must sign the contracts they are being offered has been extended.
Simon Hall, veterinary director at the APHA, confirmed in a letter to the BVA and British Cattle Veterinary Association (BCVA) on April 30 that, while large numbers of practices in England had already signed contracts, take up in Devon and Cornwall had been lower, and therefore the Delivery Partner in the region had extended the deadline for signing until May 14.
A few days before, the BVA and BCVA had written to Elizabeth Truss, the Secretary of State at Defra, expressing concern about the short timescale in which practices were being asked to consider and sign contracts relating to the provision of TB testing services.
