Speaking up for cats: feline charity launches its manifesto

CATS Protection unveiled a 10-point ‘manifesto for cats’ at a reception at the House of Commons on February 10, and says that it will be calling on the next Government to put in place measures to protect cats from abandonment, harm and neglect.

The manifesto, ‘Speaking up for cats’, which was compiled following a three-month consultation with members of the public, includes a 10-point ‘wish list’ of actions which, the charity says, would improve feline welfare. Among these are calls for tighter regulation of the licensing of air guns and banning the use of snares; for updating of the Dangerous Dogs Act to allow prosecution of dog owners whose dogs attack, injure or kill cats; and for measures to control the breeding and sale of kittens, to help clamp down …
