GM animals account for more than half of scientific procedures

MORE than half of the scientific procedures involving the use of live animals in 2013 were for the purposes of breeding genetically modified (GM) animals and animals with harmful genetic mutations (HM), according to the annual statistics of scientific procedures on living animals in Great Britain, which were published by the Home Office earlier this month.
