Vet suspended from the Register for falsifying clinical records

THE RCVS Disciplinary Committee has directed that a veterinary surgeon should be suspended from the Register for six months after finding that she had falsified clinical records and that this amounted to serious professional misconduct.

Nicola Ersilova was charged with three separate incidents of false and dishonest clinical record keeping following her treatment of a collapsed cat at a Vets Now facility in Thamesmead, London. The RCVS reports that Dr Ersilova admitted to the charges at a two-day disciplinary hearing that concluded on October 1.

At the hearing, the Disciplinary Committee heard that she had suspected that the cat had been poisoned, and had administered fluids and treated it with lidocaine. A lay colleague who was helping with the treatment subsequently saw Dr Ersilova standing staring at the cat, …
