MORE than 45,000 dogs in India have been vaccinated against rabies in just 24 days, thanks to the efforts of a team of international volunteers and local people and organisations working on behalf of Mission Rabies.
The aim of Mission Rabies, which is an initiative of Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) and is supported by a number of animal welfare charities, is to vaccinate 50,000 dogs in 10 rabies hotspots in India throughout September. The mission culminates this week on September 28, World Rabies Day. Over the next three years, the project aims to target two million dogs across India.
