IN tribute to Ewen Cameron (VR, January 12, 2013, vol 172, p 51), Nigel Brown writes: An estimated 600 friends and clients attended Melrose Parish Church for the funeral of Ewen Cameron, who died suddenly on December 14, six weeks after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. For nearly 30 years Ewen was a much-respected country vet and a ‘weel-kent’ face in fishing, hunting and shooting circles in the Borders and further afield.
Ewen was born in Tanzania, where his father Dugald was a district officer in the Colonial Service. The family lived there and in Sierra Leone in West Africa, until they moved back to Scotland when Ewen was 12 years old.
