Schmallenberg virus continuing to spread, says EFSA

AN updated analysis of the epidemiological data that have been collected on Schmallenberg virus (SBV) has been published by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The authority has reiterated that the number of herds affected by SBV is low compared to the total number of herds, with the maximum proportion of confirmed herds per region being 6.6 per cent for sheep and 4 per cent for cattle.
