Trichomonosis in finches in Slovenia

SINCE the beginning of August, we have been receiving phone calls regarding increased mortality of passerine birds in at least three locations in central Slovenia. Birds were found either dead, lethargic or behaving in an uncoordinated manner in gardens in the vicinity of feeders and water containers where seeds and water were constantly provided throughout the year. Diseased birds were scavenging for the seeds on the ground and vomiting ingested seeds and water.
