Northern Ireland plans welfare codes for rabbits, horses and primates

THE BVA has welcomed plans by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) in Northern Ireland to introduce codes of practice for the welfare of rabbits, horses and primates.

DARD is currently conducting a consultation with selected stakeholders on draft codes of practice, which aim to address health and welfare concerns by explaining and giving practical guidance on the welfare needs of the three species.
