Good husbandry ‘the best way to guard against an outbreak of PMWS’

WORK by researchers at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) has suggested that pig farms with the lowest incidence of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) have clean, enriched environments with the maximum amount of space possible for pigs. It is hoped that the research could help to outline best practice for pig husbandry, enabling farmers to optimise animal welfare and maintain production.
