Scottish dog law comes into force

The Control of Dogs (Scotland) Act came into force on February 26. The new legislation, which was passed by the Scottish Parliament in April last year, focuses on ‘deed not breed’ and gives local authorities greater powers to impose penalties on irresponsible owners (VR, May 1, 2010, vol 166, p 541).
