BVA lobbying in Europe pays off

It has been another busy month for BVA Officers in the lobbying stakes, but the hard work has been rewarded with a number of successes.

IN mid April, the FVE Office alerted the BVA to an amendment to a resolution on antimicrobial resistance by a cross-party group of MEPs that would have removed the right of veterinary surgeons to sell veterinary medicines to clients.

With less than a week to make an impact, the FVE contacted all Agriculture and Rural Committee members urging them to reject the amendment, while the BVA President, Harvey Locke, contacted all UK MEPs on the committee with coordinated messages highlighting the UK situation. The amendment …
