THE effect of climate change on animal and human health was explored at a recent meeting organised jointly by the Royal Society of Medicine and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Delegates heard how human activity is influencing patterns of disease that will continue to evolve over many years, even if efforts are made to slow the pace of climate change. Issues such as the spread of vector-borne diseases and new emerging infections were discussed, and various suggestions were made for an integrated approach to managing these serious problems.
