End captivity of whales and dolphins, charity warns

WILDLIFE charity Born Free has launched a campaign urging holidaymakers to avoid visiting marine parks with captive cetaceans.

Using the hashtag #DontBuyCaptivity, the charity’s campaign aims to highlight the plight of orcas, dolphins and porpoises in captivity and their exploitation for entertainment.

There is currently 360 dolphinaria across the world, housing more than 2000 dolphins, 200 beluga whales and 60 orcas. In Europe, there are more than 280 captive dolphins, 10 orcas and three beluga whales.
