THE RCVS Disciplinary Committee has decided to take no further action against a veterinary surgeon who admitted disgraceful conduct in relation to her treatment of a number of dogs. The RCVS reports that the ‘exceptional course of action’ was taken after medical evidence was presented to the committee by two independent psychiatrists.
Tracy Samantha Backhouse faced seven charges, six of which related to striking dogs; the seventh charge related to dragging a dog across the floor while it was recovering from an anaesthetic following surgery. The incidents took place between October 2014 and March 2015.
