Celebrating veterinary excellence

Statistics from Altmetric.com

VETERINARY professionals from around the UK were recognised for their achievements at this year's annual BSAVA awards ceremony.

The Ray Butcher Award is given in memory of Ray Butcher, president of the BSAVA from 1993 to 1994, who passed away in 2015. The award recognises an individual who has made a significant contribution to animal welfare in the community. This year's recipient was Heike Dorn. Dr Dorn moved to the Isles of Scilly in 2006 and is the sole vet for five islands, being on duty 24/7. With a diverse range of animals on the island, she is able to turn her hand to anything including spaying racoons, sexing stick insects, injecting blue sharks and stomach tubing seals.
