I WOULD like to raise awareness of dog tapeworms that have the potential to cause disease in the intermediate host. Disease is typically caused by the tapeworm larvae in sheep while most infections in dogs are symptomless. Examples include hydatidosis (Echinococcus granulosus), gid (Taenia multiceps), thin-necked bladder worm (Taenia hydatigena) and sheep bladder worm (Taenia ovis).
