THE European Medicines Agency (EMA) has updated its advice on the use of medicines containing the antibiotic colistin in animals and is recommending that the sales of such medicines should be minimised across the European Union. It is also recommending that colistin-containing medicines should only be used as a second-line treatment in animals.
