THE International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) has launched a campaign to highlight the need for all cats to receive pain relief after neutering.
The campaign, ‘Cats deserve pain relief too’, follows the publication of research in Veterinary Record which found that postoperative analgesia was given to 33 per cent of cats following routine surgery compared with 75 per cent of dogs (Hunt and others  Veterinary Record doi: 10.1136/vr.102834). The ISFM says that it is ‘very keen’ to change this statistic.
