OIE's new director general sets out its plans

MONIQUE Eloit (right) officially took up the position of director general of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on January 1. She succeeds Bernard Vallat, who retired at the end of 2015 having served 15 years in the role.

Dr Eloit, who graduated from the Alfort National Veterinary School in France, has previously been director of the French Food Safety Agency and then the chief veterinary officer of France.
