IN a further tribute to Eric Wynn Jones (VR, May 28, 2016, vol 178, p 564), Derek Tavernor, Colin Sitford and David Noakes write: Eric Wynn Jones was born in 1924 in St Martins, Shropshire, the only child of Florence (née Holland) and Albert Wynn Jones, a dairy farmer. He was affectionately known by his Royal Veterinary College (RVC) student contemporaries and close friends as Ginger because of his striking red hair as a young man. He was well schooled in country pursuits such as fishing and shooting by both his mother and father. He was educated at the Oswestry Grammar School and, although he completed his school certificate examinations at the tender age of 15, his parents would not let him leave school until he was 16.
