RESPONSES to the BVA's most recent ‘Voice of the Veterinary Profession’ survey have suggested that many practices are struggling to recruit suitable new staff.
Of the 720 BVA members who responded to the spring survey, 160 had advertised vacancies in the past 12 months. Two-thirds of these reported that it had taken them more than three months to fill vacancies for veterinary surgeons, with 10 per cent of these saying it had taken more than six months. Seven per cent were forced to withdraw the role because of a lack of suitable candidates.
