I WISH to make all members of the profession aware that, from December 18, 2015, it will become a legal obligation for anyone in England in charge of pigs, the attending vet or testing laboratory, to report suspect or confirmed porcine epidemic diarrhoea (PED) cases to the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) via the Defra Rural Services Helpline, telephone 03000 200 301. The case definition and guidance for pig keepers and vets on reporting PED is available on a dedicated website: www.PED.co.uk.
