‘IT'S well known we're a nation of animal lovers, and it's great to see that we're passing this passion on to our children,’ said Maeve Moorcroft, head of pets for Pets At Home, at the launch of the company's second ‘Pet Report’ on October 29. There was, she said, ‘no doubt that pets can be good for families’.

This year's report considers the importance of pet ownership in childhood. It uses data from the company's ‘Very Important Pet’ loyalty scheme, which has 3.5 million members, as well as from a survey of over 4000 pet owners, focusing on the role that pets play in UK children's lives.
