THE National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) has expressed concern about a recent report from an All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Antibiotics, which, it says, ‘fails to recognise the steps that have already been taken by vets and farmers to prevent disease and minimise antibiotic use on farms where possible’.
The APPG's report, ‘Non-human uses of antibiotics: time to restrict their use?’, was published on October 27. It reviews the uses of antibiotics outside of human clinical settings, including as livestock growth promoters, in veterinary medicine, aquaculture, bee keeping and horticulture.
