Domestic abuse recognition training to be rolled out across Scotland

THE Scottish Government has awarded £115,000 to a programme that trains professionals, including veterinary surgeons, to spot the signs of domestic violence and to give guidance on how to get further support to victims.

The ‘Ask, Validate, Document and Refer’ (AVDR) programme was set up by Medics Against Violence and the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit, based on a similar initiative in America.
