Statistics from

Medical supplier Scrubs Etc has announced the launch of Steribond, a veterinary skin adhesive. The company reports that the product has a polymerised n-butyl formulation, with a 10-second setting time, and provides an effective microbial showerproof barrier. It says that studies have shown that Steribond is as strong as a 3.0 suture and will stay in place for between five to 10 days, depending on the site of injury and other factors.

The glue is presented in an ‘easy-to-use, mess-free device’ and can be stored at ambient temperature for up to 18 months. It is available in boxes of 10 5 ml prefilled devices.

Scrubs Etc notes that the product has a no-sting formulation, which removes the need to sedate animals in some circumstances; for example, when dealing with a minor wound. It adds that from a cosmetic viewpoint, the appearance of the wound is neater.
