Bovine TB
More than 1300 badgers vaccinated against bovine TB in Wales last year

MORE than 1300 badgers were vaccinated against bovine TB within the Intensive Action Area (IAA) in Wales in 2014, the Welsh Government has announced.

The five-year Badger Vaccination Project began in Wales in May 2012 as part of the Welsh Government's comprehensive TB eradication programme. The ongoing Welsh eradication programme was recently endorsed by the European Commission as part of the overall UK eradication programme for 2015.

In the three years since the vaccination project began, more than 4000 badgers have been vaccinated within the IAA, which is primarily located in north Pembrokeshire, but also includes parts of Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire.
