VPHA appeals for funds to help rebuild lives following European floods

THE Veterinary Public Health Association (VPHA) is seeking to raise funds to help vets, farmers and animals in Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia get back on their feet following devastating floods in May this year.

The widespread floods in central and south-east Europe were the result of a low pressure cyclone, which brought record-breaking levels of rainfall to the region. At least 86 people were reported to have been killed and damage has been estimated at more than e1 billion.

Explaining why it has launched its appeal, the VPHA says that, in October 2013, in conjunction with the Croatian Veterinary Chamber, it organised a study tour and conference in Vinkovci in the north-eastern Croatian region of Slavonija.
