RESEARCH into badgers is vital to inform understanding of bovine TB, said Michelle O'Neill, Northern Ireland's agriculture minister, on September 2, as she visited the ‘test and vaccinate or remove’ (TVR) project that is currently taking place in the Banbridge area of County Down.

The TVR project is a five-year undertaking in which badgers are to be trapped, tested for bovine TB and either vaccinated and released if they test negative, or euthanased if found to be positive.
