Pig producers urged to review biosecurity as ASF and PED spread

Statistics from

PIG producers in the UK are being encouraged to review their biosecurity measures following confirmation that African swine fever (ASF) has spread into Lithuania and porcine epidemic diarrhoea (PED) has crossed from the USA into Canada.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) reported on January 24 that two cases of ASF had been confirmed in Lithuania, both in wild boar. One case occurred in Alytus County, the other in Vilnius County. The disease has now been confirmed in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania.
