ON November 3, 2013, Ernest James Needham, BVM&S, MRCVS, of Ebnal House, Ebnal, Malpas, Cheshire. Mr Needham qualified from Edinburgh in 1958.

E. L. Bryson, B. J. Hallows and D. J. Perritt write: Jim Needham, who died in November after a long period of ill health, was a great and compassionate vet – a true country gentleman, best summed up as ‘Cheshire's own James Herriot’ – respected by farmers, horse and pet owners alike.
