THE AHVLA has awarded a three-year contract for the provision of Official Veterinarian (OV) training and revalidation services to the veterinary CPD provider Improve International.
The agency outlined a new approach to the training and authorisation of OVs in Great Britain in July last year and launched a competitive tendering exercise seeking a single training provider in December (VR, January 4, 2014, vol 174, pp 3-4). Announcing the appointment of Improve International last week, it explained that the company was now preparing for the launch of a new OV qualification, the ‘Official Controls Qualification (Veterinary)’ or OCQ(V). This is to be delivered by blended learning methods in conjunction with Improve International's assessment partner, the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies, and Harper Adams University, which will validate the qualification.
