WE wish to report the results of a three-year investigation into the identification of the vaccinal strain in cases of abortion in sheep vaccinated with commercial live, attenuated Chlamydia abortus vaccines (Enzovax, MSD Animal Health; CEVAC Chlamydia, Ceva Santé Animale). We (Wheelhouse and others 2010) and others (Laroucau and others 2010) have recently published evidence for this live vaccine having a possible role in causing late-term abortion in vaccinated animals.
