IN tribute to Robin Keith Edgar (VR, May 3, 2014, vol 174, p 455), Harry Barber, Simon Orr and Cathie Orr write: Robin Edgar's father came from a Hampshire farming family that originated in Ayrshire. When he married Ethel Lee, of a Petersfield hairdressing family, they moved to Reading in 1926 and eventually set up hairdressing businesses at 33 Oxford Road and in Broad Street. Robin was born on October 15, 1930, and he and his elder brother, David John, boarded at Reading School during the Second World War, where they were often hungry, but they were both happy at school and home. In fact, as Robin often said, ‘Today, people would say we were neglected, but we didn't feel we were, as children accept the life they have.’ He came from a family who had a high regard for good manners and courtesy to everyone.
