The BVA President, Robin Hargreaves, comments: For too long the non-stun lobby has defended the practice by arguing that mis-stunning in conventional slaughter is a widespread welfare problem and citing outdated Europe-wide figures to suggest that mis-stunning occurs in up to 31 per cent of cases.
